Mike is the Managing Director of Tristar Consulting and brings a wealth of hands-on experience in social housing repairs and maintenance. His career spans over three decades, having progressed through key operational and leadership roles including DLO Manager, Head of Service, and Director, all within the social housing sector.

Known for his deep operational knowledge, strategic insight, and practical approach, Mike has worked with numerous housing providers to transform underperforming services into high-performing operations. He understands the challenges from the ground up and is respected for his ability to bring clarity and structure to even the most complex service environments.

In addition to leading Tristar Consulting, Mike is also a Director of the Direct Works Group, a national network dedicated to improving the quality and performance of social housing maintenance across the UK.

Managing Director Formula Consulting

Chris McKellar is the Managing Director of Formula Consulting, a specialist social housing maintenance consultancy he founded six years ago to support housing providers with data-driven improvement, financial insight, and performance transformation. With a background in senior finance and performance roles within the social housing sector, Chris brings a sharp analytical edge to service improvement and strategic planning.

Where Mike brings deep operational insight, Chris complements it with expertise in data analysis, financial modelling, KPI development, and performance management. Together, they offer a well-rounded, high-impact consultancy partnership that combines practical experience with evidence-based solutions.

Chris also has a strong track record in interim management, stepping into operational leadership roles where additional capacity or turnaround support is needed, always with a focus on sustainable outcomes and clear, measurable progress.
